Welcome to the Stanford Aerospace Robotics Laboratory

The Aerospace Robotics Laboratory (ARL) is in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics here at Stanford University. This resource provides specific information about ARL's research, publications, personnel, and facilities.

Over the past decade, Stanford University's Aerospace Robotics Laboratory (ARL) has focused its efforts on fulfilling one overall objective: the experimental demonstration of robotic systems that perform realistic tasks in response to simple, object-based directives from a human. The ARL has demonstrated the benefits of this complementary relationship between human decision-making ability and robotic precision and control in applications in space, under the ocean, in the air, on the ground, and in the factory. The Aerospace Robotics Laboratory is currently directed by Professors Robert Cannon, Steve Rock, and Jonathan How.
